The Walking Dead Cast And Crew Assemble For Season 8

It's that time of year! The Walking Dead is set to begin production on its eighth season tomorrow.

The AMC series aired its Season 7 finale just under a month ago (which was filmed in late October/early November of 2016) and it's time for the cast and crew to head down to Atlanta, Georgia to put together the next 16 episodes which will make up Season 8.

In a new photo shared to her Twitter account, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd is more than happy to be returning to the southeastern part of the nation for a little Walking Dead reunion heading into production. Posing with Hurd is Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus and The Walking Dead property master John Sanders.

"Getting the family back together again is truly the very best," Hurd wrote with a few hashtags.

Season 8 will kick off with the war between Negan's Saviors and Rick's surrounding communities. The epic battles seen in Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comics' All Out War arc won't take long to be realized. For a preview, fans of the AMC series should dig up some of the comic book source material to pass time in the off-season.

If Chandler Riggs' reaction to the script is any indication, Season 8 of The Walking Dead will be as much of a hit with fans as any before it.

"I mean, the thing that I've always been so thrilled about playing this role is the writers and the gang at AMC have always been very keen on pushing it in different directions and exploring different areas of who Rick Grimes is, which has been one of the great thrills," Rick actor Andrew Lincoln told ComicBook.com of playing his character in Season 7. "This has been one of the more unpleasant aspects of his psyche, this submissive version, but certainly the first eight would be not a pleasant experience but it was a great challenge. A good acting challenge. And certainly I enjoyed having a bit more bite, bit more grit in my belly, sharing scenes with Jeffrey Dean Morgan."

As fun as a challenge might be, it sound like Lincoln is looking forward to filming the new episodes which will see him fighting the villain rather than backing down to him. "I think it's going to be a lot more fun season eight, pitted against him with a bit more push back," Lincoln said.
