The Walking Dead Doubles Issues In Whisperer War Aftermath, Teases Major Losses

The Walking Dead will print and publish two comics in February of 2017 in the aftermath of the Whisperer War story arc.

Issue #163 kicks off a new story arc called, "Conquered." It hits shelves February 1. The only description coming with the new issue reads, "In the aftermath of the Whisperer War: ALL IS LOST."

Issue #164 follows up the issue under the title, "A Fallen House." The description reads, "Maggie leads the survivors from the Hilltop to Alexandria… to see it overrun with the dead." Issue #164 hits shelves February 15.

Yes, the issues are publishing just two weeks apart!

The immediate interpretation of the descriptions is that they imply Alexandria losing their battle with the Whisperers despite the most recent issue appearing to swing the momentum in the Safe-Zone's favor.

The covers (shown in the gallery below) also make suggestions of their. Issue #163 sees Rick's hook hand reaching up among hands of the undead. That said, The Walking Dead's covers are typically quite misleading -- such as the issue which teased a love story between Negan and Alpha that actually saw him beheading her before its end.

The last time The Walking Dead published two issues per months was during the All Out War storyline which printed in 2013. It saw the war between Rick's army of Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom against the Saviors on a bi-weekly publishing basis.
