The Walking Dead Showrunner Promises Very Different Season 7B

Over the past year, fans of The Walking Dead have been taken on one intense ride. The apocalyptic zombie thriller had one of the most hyped cliffhangers coming into Season 7, and the bloody season left Rick Grimes and his gang in serious trouble. By the midseason finale, fans were left almost as battered as Daryl himself, but things are set to turn on the hit AMC drama. If you listen to the series's showrunner, the second-half of Season 7 is slated to be a very different affair.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Gimple described the upcoming Season 7B and made a few big promises.

Talking about the midseason finale, Gimple told the site the episode "propels us into a very different half season from the one before it." But, most importantly, Gimple teased that Rick is in for a laugh or two in future episodes. And boy - does he deserve it!

"Before the end of that very first episode back, you will see Rick Grimes smile," the showrunner teased.

When The Walking Dead returns next month, the premiere will kick off the promised war between Hilltop's residents and the Saviors. Naturally, Gimple is hyped for the episode and stressed it is one fans will not want to miss.

"Angela Kang wrote it, Greg Nicotero directed it, the cast knocked it out of the park — pretty much literally, you'll see — and the crew pulled it all together, and it was a hell of a lot to pull together," he gushed.
