The Walking Dead: Emotional Video Showcases The Transformation Of Rick Grimes

Rick Grimes has come a long way on The Walking Dead. As much is brilliantly evidenced in the fan-made video above.

The video from YouTube user InfiniteX begins with the earliest scenes of the popular AMC series, seeing Rick trying to rescue a little girl he discovered to be a zombie, which was a flashback taking place before he was shot on the side of a road.

"I woke up today, in a hospital," Rick said. "That's all I know." It's a moment which takes fans of The Walking Dead right back to the character's meeting with Morgan Jones in the earliest episode from 2010.

"We don't kill the living," he says, ironically, at the beginning of the video. As the nearly 11-minute edit plays out, Rick loses touch of such a mantra in favor of his own survival and protecting those around him. Of course, the revelation of Lori's involvement with Shane, Carl getting shot, and Sophia walking out of the barn as a zombie are all major players in the shaping who Rick has become.

In more recent sequences included in the edit, Rick is belittled by Negan and the Saviors. He will, however, rally the community and become the leader this community knows -- the man who will lock a prisoner outside among the dead and give only advice of, "You better run." The same man who will literally take a bite out of someone's neck to save his son.

"This people are my family," Rick said. "If what you're hiding hurts them in anyway, I'll kill you."
