Walking Dead Two-Hour Retrospective Special Revealed by AMC

10/04/2016 12:21 pm EDT

The Walking Dead season 7 premiere is without a doubt the biggest event of the fall 2016 TV season, as we all wait to see which member of Rick Grimes' survivor squad got brutally demolished by the barbed wired bat of new villain, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

But as we wait for the dark events of season 7, fans who are not yet caught up on The Walking Dead will have a special chance to do so, as AMC has announced a huge two-hour retrospective event to bring everyone up to speed. Titled The Walking Dead: Journey So Far, the special will recap the entire series thus far, stopping for clips of key or pivotal moments, with cast and showrunner interviews adding more perspective. The special will air on October 16 from 9-11pm on AMC - a week before the official season 7 premiere.

EW has revealed the press released from AMC:

"Season by season, from the moment Rick wakes up in the hospital (as told by Andrew Lincoln), all the way to the excruciating first swing of Negan's bat (told by Jeffery Dean Morgan and others in the lineup), the story of "The Walking Dead" will be told by those who have lived it. "The Walking Dead: Journey So Far" gives viewers who have never seen an episode of "The Walking Dead" a chance to get all caught up on the plot, characters, locations, and unique terminology of the series as well as providing fans who've never missed a moment with fresh interviews with the series' producers and their favorite actors as part of an exciting refresher course that will further whet their appetite for the new season."
