Over the weekend, AMC dropped a new teaser trailer for The Walking Dead's seventh season and while it featured a whole new batch of Negan, that's not what got fans talking.

Speculation on the Internet has begun, claiming that Michael Cudlitz's Abraham Ford character made his first appearance in season 7 footage getting attacked by zombies.

Potential spoilers (and even more rumors) regarding The Walking Dead season 7 follow.

Before we get any further, let's just point out the obvious of why that would be so important... None of the eleven characters - Rick, Abraham, Glenn, Maggie, Michonne, Daryl, Rostia, Sasha, Abraham, Aaron, Carl, or Eugene - have been featured in a single piece of promotion for the upcoming season outside of flashback form. To throw Abraham into a short clip would be a very surprising move by the team at AMC. They have gone to significant lengths to keep the victim a secret.

Let's take a look at the footage before going any further.

And, let's take a look at the moment in question because, to be fair, it does flash by extremely quickly....

Naturally, seeing some red hair and a fluffy red mustache, one has to assume it is Abraham Ford. The soldier has become known for the iconic appearance (on top of his classic metaphorical dialogue). Furthering the argument that this is indead Abraham quickly cut into the new trailer is the notion that he is one of very few characters strong enough to hold a zombie off from biting his face.

That said, we've seen other characters such as Glenn do the same, and they're not nearly as strong as Abraham has been made out to be.

It's safer to say, though, that this character is not actually Abraham. AMC has carefully kept all possible victims out of the trailers to keep Negan's victim a well-kept secret. The shot is a quick one and a bit blurry, meaning that it could be Dwight on the ground, an unnamed Alexandrian, a Savior, a member of the Hilltop, a member of the Kingdom, or just some stranger out in the streets who was needed to add a touch of action to keep the promo's intensity going.

If this is, in fact, Abraham, it would be a surprise to many of those who have been hunting spoilers and hearing that Negan's kill was either him or Glenn with their lack of appearances on set crediting the theory. Newer reports have claimed to see Cudlitz on set, though no concrete evidence back the reports like they did when photos of Andrew Lincoln, Ross Marquand, and Danai Gurira popped up recently.

According to a poll of the ComicBook.com audience, 32% of users think that Abraham is the one who will meet Lucille. Either they're all wrong or the person in this new trailer is another character.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season on October 23 at 9 PM ET on AMC.
