Why We Think Two Characters Will Die In The Walking Dead Midseason Finale

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead For The Walking Dead Season Seven!

By now, it's pretty obvious that Spencer is going to die in this episode. His comic storyline has been mirrored, and his fate from the books has been heavily foreshadowed.

The show doesn't always follow the books, but this season has been pretty true to its source. Spencer's story especially has drawn an incredible amount of parallels. He will probably sell Rick out to Negan in the midseason finale, and Negan will make him pay for it.

Where the show will differ form the comics however, is when a second character dies in the episode. Nothing has been confirmed regarding that rumor, but The Walking Dead pulled the same kind of stunt during the season premiere.

Everything was set up to Glenn just like in the comics, but fans were thrown for a loop when Abraham met Lucille instead. Look for the show to throw in a similar diversion tactic this week.

There's two likely ways this could happen.

First, Olivia could fall to Negan. While Olivia hasn't done anything wrong, she happens to be under Negan's thumb at the moment. With Rick gone, Olivia has been assigned to Judith, and she isn't about to abandon her post anytime soon. If someone pisses Negan off, and he needs to prove a point in a hurry, Olivia will pay the price.

The other option here is that Rosita sees an early exit. While her character sticks around for a while in the comics, she is skating on thin ice at the moment. If she tries to use that bullet on Negan, and doesn't succeed, she's really in deep.

In order to make a shocking episode, The Walking Dead will likely cover multiple deaths. It's a move fans may not be ready for, and it would help build buzz entering the winter break.
