Joel McHale Reportedly In Talks For Quantum And Woody TV Series

Joel McHale may be about to join the Valiant Universe.

McHale is reportedly in talks to play one of the two lead roles in the Russo Bros.' upcoming television adaptation of Valiant Comics Quantum & Woody. McHale would play Woody Henderson, a smart-mouthed slacker who becomes stuck with his more serious-minded adoptive brother when the two are endowed with superpowers.

Quantum and Woody's superpowers come from a pair of metal bands that must they must "Klang" together once every 24 hours. Otherwise, their own powers will kill them both.

McHale previously worked with Joe and Anthony Russo on Community, Dan Harmon's comedy series which the Russos produced. The Russos will executive produce Quantum and Woody alongside Mike Larocca, Dinesh Shamdasani of Valiant, and pilot writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.

According to The Wrap, there are several African-American actors circling the role of Woody's brother, Quantum, and more news on that front should be coming soon.

Billed as the "world's worst superhero team," Quantum and Woody were originally created by Christopher Priest and MD Bright in 1997. Following Valiant's 2013 relaunch, Quantum and Woody was placed in the hands of writer James Asmus and artist Tom Fowler for an update.

Quantum and Woody is just one of several television and film projects that Valiant has in the works. Five movies featuring the characters from Harbinger and Bloodshot are planned with Sony Pictures, with Jared Leto reportedly circling the lead role of Bloodshot. Reginald Hudlin is working on a Shadowman movie and Dave Bautista is slated to star in an Eternal Warrior movie. A film featuring the Valiant's other superhero duo, Archer & Armstrong, is also in the works.
