The Walking Dead & Fear The Walking Dead Pay Tribute to Stuntman at Comic-Con

The Walking Dead cast and crew recently went through a major tragedy, as stuntman John Bernecker was killed while performing a stunt during production on The Walking Dead season 8.

In honor of Bernecker and in observance of the terrible loss, The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead panels at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 both began with a tribute to the stuntman.

The Fear The Walking Dead tribute involved the usually raucous Hall H (where thousands of fan are packed in attendance) going totally silent. Fans obliged, showing utmost respect for Bernecker's loss. The Walking Dead panel paid tribute by having showrunner Scott M. Gimple say kind words in remembrance of Bernecker:

"John passed away this week, after he was injured doing something he loved: helping tell stories that excite, entertain, and give people an escape. He helped make movies and shows for people like everybody in this room. John was someone beloved in the stunt community; someone who trained other people and helped them break into the business. He was living his dream, and he helped other people do the same thing. We didn't really know if we should do this panel today, but we wanted to be here for you. And we wanted to tell you about John, and we wanted to show you what we've all been working on."

After both tributes, the shows held their regularly planned panels, revealing some new details about the upcoming second half of FTWD season 3 (which is currently on hiatus), and what's to come in The Walking Dead season 8. At this time, The Walking Dead has completely suspended production on season 8, following the on set tragedy.
