Alberto Del Rio Says The WWE Needs Him

Does the WWE miss Alberto Del Rio? You may think not, as his last run with the company was pretty stale, but according to Del Rio, the WWE needs him more than he needs them.

Del Rio and Paige appeared on Sirius XM's Busted Open with Dave LaGreca and Larry Dallas on Tuesday to talk about various topics. Del Rio commented on his time with WWE and his departure from the company last year. He stated that WWE's inability to let Lucha Libre show its style is a big reason why he left.

"That's the reason I ended up leaving the company. A lot of people ask me why I left when I had one of the most important contracts and the answer is, I wasn't happy. I got to the point where I don't need them. They don't need me. I don't need them. It's as simple as that. And to be honest, the way I see it, I think they need me more than I need them. Because they don't have anybody else. That's the reason they didn't want me to leave. They don't have anyone else to represent the Latin culture and Latin market in the company."

When discussing why he left, Del Rio says it simply came down to his own happiness.

"Im in the stage of my life where im in the pursuit of happiness. I just want to be happy. Like I was getting up, my fiance knows this. I was getting up every Friday to fly from San Antonio to wherever and I was just like a little kid on the side of the bed thanking Oh God, I have to go to that place again?"

Busted Open with Doug Mortman and Dave LaGreca can be heard weekdays from 2p-4p Eastern Time only on SiriusXM Rush Channel 93 and if you'd like to hear the full interview, it can be found online at SiriusXM.com/OnDemand or on your phone on the SiriusXM App.

The WWE has yet to find another Latino star to step up into a main event role with the company, but do you think they "need" Alberto Del Rio? Let us know in the comments below.
