WWE: Happy Birthday! Sheamus Turns 39 Today

01/28/2017 06:55 pm EST

Sheamus, real name Stephen Farrelly, was born on January 28, 1978, and turns 39 years old today.

The WWE superstar, born in Dublin, Ireland, started his pro wrestling journey as part of the Monster Factory wrestling school in 2002. Going by the name of Sheamus O'Shaunessy, he was already gaining momentum when a neck injury sidelined him for two years.

As you know, Sheamus isn't one to give up, and he would return to the ring as part of Irish Whip Wrestling in 2004. He would wrestle there and as part of other promotions like Wales Celtic Wrestling, LDN Wrestling, and All Star Wrestling until finally, he made his way to WWE in 2006.

He would wrestle as part of FCW until 2009, and then would graduate to the main roster as part of ECW and then Monday Night RAW. Sheamus has been with the WWE ever since and remains over with the crowds thanks to his punishing and brutal style of offense. Since joining WWE Sheamus has become a three-time WWE Champion and has also held the World Heavyweight Championship. He's also held the United States Championship twice and has claimed victory at 2012's Royal Rumble and 2015's Money In The Bank match. These days he has managed to add one more item to his resume, the Tag Team Championships, which he holds alongside Cesaro. They will defend their championship belts against The Club at this Sunday's Royal Rumble.

In addition to his WWE career, Sheamus has also appeared as Rocksteady in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadow and will appear in the Wes Miller directed film Atone later this year.

Happy Birthday, Sheamus! Hope it's a great one!
