This week, Tom Holland all but confirmed his involvement in Avengers: Infinity War, meaning fans will finally get to see Spider-Man suit up next to the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
While this is undoubtedly exciting, the speculation has now begun as to what kind of role the young hero could play in the war against Thanos.
Will he travel to space with the Avengers? Will he have some work to do back in New York? Is there a chance this is just a cameo?
Peter Parker's role in the movie could be any number of things, but we decided to break down a few of the most talked-about options.
Click through the slideshow to find out what Spider-Man could be doing in Avengers: Infinity War, and what that would mean for his character going forward.
Cameo With Iron Man
We all know that Tony Stark has become a mentor to Peter Parker. Spider-Man: Homecoming shows the growth of their relationship - both personal and professional - and how Spider-Man will ultimately become an Avenger.
When Infinity War hits, the kid probably won't be ready for action just yet. There's a chance that he might not see any combat whatsoever.
With most of the battle to take place in space, Parker's services likely won't be needed. If he has a couple of scenes assisting Iron Man on land, however, his appearance makes much more sense.
This isn't too likely, but Infinity War could see Spider-Man introduced as one of the main Avengers as they take the fight to Thanos.
The character is Marvel's hottest property of all-time, and many fans think he has more than earned his wings. This role would see Peter standing side-by-side with Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain America for most of the film.
Unless Iron Man invites him to the Avengers compound at the end of Homecoming, we're thinking Spidey won't have this big of a role in the film.
Shows Up For The Big Fight
Spider-Man made his big screen debut in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, and he was mainly used as a part of the movie's big fight scene. This could be the case in Infinity War as well.
Whether it be Thanos, or another big villain, the team could enlist Spidey's help when heading into battle. Fans want to see Spider-Man in action, so this is a realistic possibility.
On the other hand, this idea could be combined with the first option - where he interacted with Iron Man.
When the team goes to battle, presumably in space, Tony could tell Peter to stay behind. When the teenager tries to convince his mentor he could help, Stark will stand his ground and keep Peter grounded.
Street Fight With The Defenders
The Defenders probably won't show up for Infinity War, but no one has exactly ruled it out yet.
These street-level heroes have no place in the ultimate fight against Thanos, but they could assist the Avengers from the ground. If this is the case, Spider-Man could easily join the fight here. He's got the Avengers experience, and could act as the bridge between the two teams.
This all depends on the Defenders actually being included in the movie, which doesn't seem very likely.
Brief Appearance Leading To Avengers 4
While this would be more than a cameo, it wouldn't be a very big role for Spider-Man. It would, however, be an incredibly important part.
When the team is down-and-out, Parker could come webbing his way into the action to save his mentor from doom. This would be the triumphant moment fans want to see from Spidey, and it would fit well into the plot of the film.
More than either of those things, it could set up Spider-Man to be a main Avenger heading into the final movie.
