Lion Forge Comics kicked off their road to Comic-Con International tdoay with news that co-creators Samuel Sattin (Legend) and Ian McGinty (Adventure Time) will launch a new, young readers-focused trilogy of original graphci novels in the coming year.

Glint: Loon's Army is the introductory volume of a three-part series that pulls from elements of comics, manga, science fiction and fantasy to create what the publisher describes as "a story of family, social conflict, and resilience."

"I'm so excited to work with an immense talent like Ian, and a groundbreaking publisher like Lion Forge, to bring this story to life. GLINT is a big, three book tale about a dying planet, and the few who care enough to save it from extinction" said writer Samuel Sattin in a statement. "Motorbike-riding warrior grannies must help a small miner boy named Loon withstand a regime that's been brainwashing its people for generations, while being attacked by monsters called Feeders. We can't wait to introduce you to the world of Mora, and the characters fighting over its fate as it tries to find a star it can call home."

The planet Mora is hurtling through space, from solar system to solar system, looking for a star it can finally call home. It's also about to be mined to death, losing the last of its energy-producing, planet-sustaining mineral Glint. But shhh, that part's a secret. A secret that will send a young, headstrong miner named Loon and his hoverhog-riding grandma on an epic journey for survival, for the sake of not just their families, but the very world they hold dear.

"Lion Forge has been steadily bringing creators into the forefront of the comic industry through innovative, unique and encompassing new comics, books and other media," said artist Ian McGinty. "It is a privilege to be included among the numerous artists, writers and designers, including the very talented Samuel Sattin. We hope that you find our books, Glint, to be a fun, fast foray into the dangerous world of Mora, the barbaric customs of a crumbling alien nation and the adventures of a young boy named Loon. Watch out for the Feeders..."

"When I heard about Glint I was beyond excited for the opportunity to do an original project with Ian McGinty, whose work on Adventure Time and other fun properties is pretty well known (and pretty awesome)" said Lion Forge Vice President–Executive Editor Andrea Colvin. "But when I dug into the Glint pitch, I was doubly floored by Sam Sattin's snappy, incredibly fun writing. Together, Sam and Ian have come up with a page-turner of a visually stunning fantasy adventure that I cannot wait to share with readers."

Inspired by work such as Craig Thompson's Space Dumplins', Annie Szabla's Bird Boy, and Noelle Stevenson's Nimona, along with high science fiction sagas like the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness, and the popular Knights of Sidonia series, GLINT tackles big themes with colorful, stylized cartooning, humor, and a fast-paced, emotional narrative. Readers of all ages will find themselves immersed in the story as the main characters strive to save their loved ones (and their planet) by harnessing the optimism of youth, outsmarting the establishment, and trying to understand what it means to do good.

Written by Sattin and penciled and inked by McGinty, GLINT: Loon's Army will be colored by Kendra Wells, for release in February 2019. Subsequent volumes will follow close behind in October 2019 and April 2020.
