Attack On Titan: Who Is Captain Levi Talking To In The Season 2 Teaser Trailer?

There's a lot happening the world of Attack On Titan today. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the anime's second season would be heading to television in April 2017. And, now, the folks over at Kodansha Comics and Funimation are wishing fans a happy holidays with a first look at the new season. The first teaser trailer for Attack On Titan's second second dropped earlier today, and there are plenty of thrilling scenes to breakdown.

However, it seems that there are a few scenes which fans have particular questions about - and there is absolutely no bloodshed to be scene. You can thank Captain Levi for that idiosyncrasy.

During the trailer, fans see Captain Levi dressed in a nice suit walking behind a man who fans may not recognize. If you dig back a big, then you will eventually mark the man as Minister Nick from the Church of the Wall. The character made his anime debut in the first season when he advocates for Eren Yeager to be executed once his Titan Shifting status is made public. It seems like the character will make another appearance this season, and the manga may tell us why.

In the 'Clash of the Titans' arc, Minister Nick is approached by Captain Levi and Hange in a less-than-pleasant manner. The former forces the zealot to see the kind of destruction the Titans cause, and the captain wants Nick to reveal what secrets he knows about the walls. So far, the Survey Corps have learned that there are Titans hidden inside the walls, but Nick refuses steadfastly to divulge any details about their captivity. Instead, the minister tells Levi and Hange that there is a girl in the 104th Training Corps who can speak about the secrets though she is hiding under a false name. And, as manga readers know, the two soldiers quickly figure out that Nick is talking about Historia Reiss.

If you are not familiar with Attack On Titan, then you should know the popular anime is renowned for its intense action and gritty storylines. The anime follows a boy named Eren Yeager in an alternate world overrun by massive creatures known as Titans. These mindless beasts have all but wiped out humanity, and mankind is left to cower in fear behind massive walls. When their sanctum is infiltrated by a slew of Titans, Eren and his friends Armin and Mikasa join the military to help eradicate the blood-thirty monsters. But, as they grow older, they learn that the beasts are not what they appear as long-held government conspiracies make themselves known.

Since Attack On Titan first season wrapped, the series has become an international hit amongst audiences. The first 25-episode season debuted in 2013 and can be streamed online at sights like Hulu. As fans waited for a second season to come around, Attack On Titan has been busy expanding itself into a full-on franchise. The manga has since been adapted into various side manga series, light novels, and even live-action films. In Japan, the first of two films based on the post-apocalyptic series debuted in July 2015 with the second following in September.

Attack On Titan Season 2 will debut in April 2017.
