Avengers: Age Of Ultron Crosses $1 Billion At Worldwide Box Office
05/15/2015 02:09 pm EDT
Avengers: Age of Ultron officially passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office on May 15. In doing so, the Avengers sequel has joined 2012's The Avengers and 2013's Iron Man 3 as the only Marvel Studios films to clear the benchmark.
Overall, Age of Ultron is the 21st movie to gross more than $1 billion at the global box office. Currently scoring $333 million in the United States, Age of Ultron is close to topping Furious 7 ($339.8) as the highest-grossing domestic movie of the year. Globally, however, it still has a ways to go. Furious 7's global totals are currently at $1.47 billion.
But Age of Ultron still has a long road ahead in toppling its predecessor, The Avengers. The original Marvel team-up film scored $1.5 billion globally when it debuted in 2012, making it the third highest-grossing film of all time.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently playing in theaters.
