Channing Tatum Doubtful Of Gambit Appearance In X-Men: Apocalypse

Channing Tatum (Magic Mike XXL) was interviewed by MTV at CinemaCon and was asked if his debut as Gambit will come in X-Men: Apocalypse as many have suspected it would.
"You know, I don't know if I'm at liberty to say," Tatum told Josh Horowitz. "But I don't think I want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is."
Well, that is a bit of a shock. The assumption was that the Cajun mutant Remy LeBeau would make his first appearance in Apocalypse and then we'd get a proper introduction in his upcoming solo film.
It would also make sense to have him appear in the next X-Men film as the characters has a connection to the main villain in the comics. Everyone in the X-Men universe does, but Gambit's connection is more important than most as he was one of the Apocalypse's Horsemen (Death) in the comics. He was sent in to sabotage Apcalypse's plans for mutant domination and ended up succumbing to the En Sabah Nur's will.
Listen to Channing Tatum's comments at the 2:20 mark in the video below.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016. The Gambit solo film is scheduled for October 7, 2016.
