Microsoft and The Coalition's Gears of War 4 is one of the most anticipated games of 2016 and remains a favorite among fans due to its brutal yet refined combat mechanics.

While the gameplay remains the star of the popular series, the game is set in a world with a unique mix of utilitarian design and slick LED-infused imagery, and fans will get a much closer look at the Cog's world in Dark Horse's companion book, The Art of Gears of War 4.

The book contains hundreds of concept images and production art pieces, and will also include commentary from the developers alongside it. You'll get a closer look at the games new weapons like the Dropshot and the Buzzsaw, along with old favorites like the Gnasher and Lancer. The same goes for Gears of War 4's new threat, the Swarm. They seem to be a byproduct of the Locust horde from the original trilogy, but I'm sure we will get an inside look at how they progressed and emerged into their final form here.

I'd also be interested to see the design process behind the new cast of character, which includes JD Fenix (son of Marcus), Kait Diaz, and Delmont "Del" Walker. No doubt that each character went through several designs, and it's always interesting to see how they arrived at the finished product.

The Art of Gears of War 4 will hit stores on December, 20th, while the actual Gears of War 4 will hit Xbox One on October 11th. You can view the cover for the book as well as more screenshots from the game in the gallery, and you can view more details on the game here.
