Erik Larsen's Mighty Man Gets a One-Shot This April

Earlier today, Image Comics announced a new Mighty Man one-shot by comics legend Erik Larsen, Image Comics' co-founder and co-partner and the creator of the long-running Savage Dragon series, and artist Nikos Koutsis.

As a baby, seven-year-old Betty Bradford has inherited the powers of the World's Mightiest Man -- and her mother had to help her contain them until she was old enough to understand. Now, she trains to take on the role of the world's greatest superhero...and faces her biggest challenge ever.

"Mighty Man was a nutty idea I had some years ago where a godlike entity could be transferred from one host to another, enabling its host to transform into the world's mightiest man," said Larsen. "In each case, I thought it would be compelling to give those powers to the least likely recipient. At this point, the power is in the hands of a seven-year-old girl, the daughter of a previous host who had been Mighty Man."

In Savage Dragon's universe, Mighty Man was once the world's greatest hero, until his death shortly before the first Savage Dragon miniseries. At the time of his death, though, the hero's powers -- which can be accessed by calling upon them and which affect a physical transformation, all reminiscent of Shazam! -- were transferred to the nurse taking care of him, who held the role for years as a part of Freak Force and the Liberty League.

It was only after her quasi-retirement that she learned she had passed her powers onto her daughter either in utero or at the time of Betty's birth.

The one shot will, per the full artwork seen below, apparently also feature fan-favorite Savage Dragon supporting character Super-Patriot.

The Mighty Man one-shot (Diamond Code FEB170577) hits stores on Wednesday, April 5th. The final order cutoff deadline is Monday, March 13th.
