Snake Plissken is back!
Deadline reports that Fox will remake John Carpenter's 1981 cult classic, Escape From New York.
Carpenter will be on board as executive producer for the new film.
The 1981 version is set in the near-future 1997 in a crime-ridden United States that has converted Manhattan Island in New York City into a maximum security prison. Kurt Russell starred as eye-patch wearing ex special forces Snake Plissken. Convicted for trying to rob a federal reserve, Plissken is given 22 hours to find the President of the United States and a tape he carries which holds the key to peace. If Plissken fails, he's wired to explode.
With Fox procuring the rights to the film just recently, the remake is expected to go into pre-production very soon.
