EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Blizzard's Overwatch: Pharah Comic

05/16/2016 04:50 pm EDT

Blizzard Entertainment had provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive peek inside Overwatch #5 -- an issue dedicated to Pharah.

The game developer has been using comics to help build the world of Overwatch, an online multiplayer, team-based shooter. Blizzard is well known for their lore and their storytelling, with titled like World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Hearthstone -- and the comics are how they're helping build that extra world with Overwatch.

The star of the comic's fifth issue -- out this week -- centers on Helix warrior Fareeha Amari, code name Pharah, whom Blizzard identifies as "a very duty-based, responsibility-driven hero."

The comic is published in cooperation with Dark Horse Comics, and issues go up on Madefire -- the immersive, interactive comics publishing platform -- a week after they're released at Blizzard's own site. Madefire's comic book reader is on Apple TV, Apple App Store, Windows 10, Android TV and Google Play, and both services have the first three comics.

You can check out the solicitation text and preview art below. Overwatch #5 - Pharah is on sale Thursday at this link. Currently, #4 is there. You can also check out the previous three comics: "McCree: Train Hopper," "Reinhardt: Dragon Slayer" and "Junkrat & Roadhog: Going Legit."

Today saw the release of the animated short Overwatch: Dragons, which features fan-favorite characters Hanzo and Genji:
