What would you do if you woke up in the Marvel Universe? It's a question that writer Christopher Hastings and artist Gurihiru look to answer with their upcoming series The Unbelievable Gwenpool.

For Gwen, things are looking pretty good right now, so she grabs a costume and gets to having some fun, but she will learn that her actions have repercussions, and part of the fun is seeing how big a hole she can dig and still get out of it. Hastings elaborated on the premise a bit in an interview with Marvel.com.

"Ms. Poole basically thinks she's been transported into a video game. It's a world where hundreds of super powered citizens shoot each other with eyeball lasers and grenades that are painted to look like pumpkins for some reason all the time. She wants to participate! She doesn't have any superpowers, but she can get her hands on some guns and swords, right? And she thinks nothing bad will ever happen. Bucky came back from the dead; Thor's never been arrested—as far as I know; why should the rules be any different for her?"

"That's where she's coming from. But the series will be about showing her that no, she's not completely right. There are consequences to her actions."

I can't even really fault her for that. If I woke up in a comic book I think that might be the first thing on my to-do list as well. Gwenpool has jumped from being a theme for a variant cover into her own ongoing series, and you can join the fun when issue #1 releases on April 13th. Make sure to hit the gallery for a 4 page preview and a look at some of the launch variants.
