Henry Simmons has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Simmons debuted as Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie in Season 2, a veteran member of S.H.I.E.L.D. who had joined Director Coulson's team, but was secretly working with Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse and Agent Robert Gonzales as part of a the "real" S.H.I.E.L.D.

At the end of Season 2, Mack looked ready to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. for good. In the end, Coulson put him in charge of dealing with alien artifacts, so there's little surprise that he'll be returning for Season 3.

Simmons is the second recurring cast member to be upgraded to series regular in Season 3, following Luke Mitchell as the Inhuman Lincoln.
