J.J. Abrams To Appear On Kevin Smith & Greg Grunberg's Geeking Out

AMC's new late night talk show Geeking Out! debuted a special episode at San Diego Comic-Con, but the series officially launches on the network August 14th.

For hosts Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg, starting out small is not practical, so they've packed the latest episode with geek culture royalty as it were. First Kevin and Greg have a sit down with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk, where the two fan favorites talk about their Firefly days and their new project Con Man. Both Fillion and Tudyk have upcoming roles in Star Wars: Episode VIII, so they'll hopefully be able to share some details from that project as well.

That would be a good start in and of itself, but the two geek enthusiasts also sit with Director J.J. Abrams at the Universal Studios Backlot to discuss his new series Westworld, which is coming to HBO. It's not hard to imagine some Star Trek and Star Wars will make it into the conversation as well.

Geeking Out! will air its new episode on August 14th at 11 PM ET/PT, but after that, it will reside at a normal time slot of midnight.

When the project was announced, President of original programming and development for AMC Joel Stillerman spoke about what fans can expect from the show.

"Kevin and Greg are both true fans of this content, and share a deep passion for talking about it, and engaging other fans about it. But it is their natural chemistry as hosts that really brings this idea together. As part of our growing non-fiction slate, we wanted to create a broadly entertaining venue for hardcore fans and general viewers where we can break down all things fanboy on a weekly basis; and we wanted to bring those fans great interviews and exclusive looks into the world of fanboy culture. We look forward to sharing this highly entertaining duo with our viewers."
