One Ring To Rule Them All, One Ring To Get A 4th Grader Suspended

A 9-year-old boy, Aiden Steward, and his father Jason, recently saw Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies. Aiden was so enamored with the One Ring, which is referenced in The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings films, that he brought a ring into his Kermit, Texas, elementary school. But when Aiden claimed his ring had magical powers that could make one of his fellow classmates disappear like Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman).
Kermit Elementary School officials believed the comments constitued a "threat," and decided to suspend Aiden. Threat, magical or not, just aren't tolerated in the Kermit Independent School District.
"I assure you my son lacks the magical powers necessary to threaten his friend's existence," Jason Steward wrote in an email. "If he did, I'm sure he'd bring him right back."
