Paramount Schedules World War Z Sequel Against Fantastic Four 2

Paramount has pitted the sequel to 2013's World War Z, which starred Brad Pitt, against 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four sequel.
Today, Paramount officially scheduled World War Z 2 to be released in theaters June 9, 2017. That release date was already occupied by another potential heavyweight, Fox's Fantastic Four 2. Of course, a sequel to Josh Trank's Fantastic Four hinges on how well the first film does this August.
Steven Knight is writing the script for the zombie-centric sequel and it will be directed by J.A. Bayona ("The Impossible"). Brad Pitt will reprise his role as former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane. The first film grossed $540M at the worldwide box office, overcoming many behind-the-scenes hurdles, like a completely revamped third act.
