The Wookie warrior, Chewbacca, will star in his own five-issue comic book miniseries, Marvel Comics announced today at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The series will be written by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) and drawn by Phil Noto (Black Widow), and takes Chewbacca away from his allies in the Rebel Alliance. Having crash-landed while on a mission, Chewie will find himself stranded and alone on an unfamiliar planet. His loyalties will be divided when he has to chose between getting back to the Alliance, and helping a young girl in need.

Chewbacca #1 will ship in October. See Noto's cover for the issue and Ariel Olivetti's variant in the gallery below, then check back tomorrow for our interview with writer Gerry Duggan.
