Things Come to A Head With The Serpents In Riverdale's "The Outsiders" Synopsis

Riverdale becomes the first of Greg Berlanti's comic book adaptations to name-drop The Outsiders -- although probably not the ones that Batman used to team up with -- in the official synopsis for the Archie adaptation's March 30 episode.

In the episode, Betty and Veronica set out to rally around the pregnant and distraught Polly, while Fred Andrews and FP Jones's difficult relationship rears its head again when the Southside Serpents try to stop him from building on Hiram Lodge's land.

You can see the full synopsis below.

As Fred (Luke Perry) and his crew are about to start construction he loses his crew, which could put his livelihood in jeopardy. Wanting to help his dad, Archie (KJ Apa) and his friends pitch in to help but after one of them is attacked, the gang comes up with a plan that lands them in Southside Serpent territory.

With Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) secret revealed, he is worried about how his friends will react. Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) suggest throwing Polly (guest star Tiera Skovbye) a baby shower to make her feel better, but Polly is hesitant knowing how everyone feels. Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Madelaine Petsch and Ashleigh Murray also star.

David Katzenberg directed the episode written by Julia Cohen.

This synopsis comes on the heels of episode six -- "Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!" -- in which the audience finally got to meet Polly Cooper for the first time in the flesh, and both viewers and most of the characters learned for the first time that she was pregnant with Jason Blossom's child.

Tomorrow's episode -- "In a Lonely Place" -- will deal with the ramifications of that revelation, as the whole town is out looking for Polly, who went missing after she learned that the love of her life had been murdered while her parents hid her away to keep the news of her pregnancy from the world.

Like "The Outsiders," tonight's episode will deal with Jughead's relationship with his father, and with the long and difficult past between the Jones and Andrews families.

The acclaimed drama, which reinvents the world of Archie Comics with a Twin Peaks twist, has overcome middling Nielsen ratings to be a hit on the strength of a dedicated fan base, massive social media success, critical love, and a first-look deal between Archie and Warner Bros. Television that promises to develop more new shows.
