Tom Hardy's Splinter Cell Loses Liman; Power/Rangers Director Considered
04/23/2015 01:36 pm EDT
Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman has been developing a film adaptation of Ubisoft's flagship video game Splinter Cell for quite some time, but according to the Tracking Board he has "dropped out."
They've also learned that producers are moving swiftly to replace Liman and are considering Joseph Kahn. He's the director behind the edgy, gritty Power/Rangers short that starred Katee Sackhoff.
Mad Max: Fury Road and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy is still set to star in the film as special ops agent Sam Fisher. The award-winning video game series created by Tom Clancy generally involves Fisher and his secret government organization Third Echelon taking down international terrorists.
Filming for Splinter Cell is expected to begin later this year.
