Attack on Titan may have ended its second season today, but the show isn't letting its fans hang dry. In a surprise announcement, the folks at Wit Studios and Kodansha confirmed the anime's third season would drop next year. And, now, a teaser video for the much-awaited season has hit the Internet.

Over on Funimation, an official season three preview has been shared, and fans are understandably freaking out. The clip itself doesn't feature any new animation, but it does give fans a tease of what to expect for season three. The video is comprised of various covers of Attack on Titan manga volumes. The sequence sources its pieces from volumes 13-22, and it features a rather intriguing tagline.

"And then, they see the ocean," was added as the preview's tagline.

For manga fans, the teaser gives them an excellent idea of what Attack on Titan season three will contain. Given its manga connections, the new season appears like it will finally answer a major question for fans about Eren's past. The mystery of what lingers in the boy's destroyed home will be revealed as it appears season three will identify what is hidden in Eren's basement.

Given the number of volumes season three is expected to cover, Attack on Titan will have a lengthy third season. The anime's most recent outing only hosted 12 episodes, but Wit Studio will surely make up for the sparse order next year. Fans seem convinced Attack on Titan will need a 2-cour order for its third season, so fans should anticipate a 20-25 episode order if all goes well.

You can read the synopsis for Attack on Titan season two below:
