'Dragon Ball FighterZ' Reveals An Android Storyline Which Anime Fans Need

Dragon Ball Z has plenty of sagas, but its Androids story is hard to beat. Fans consistent point to the anime's introduction of Cell as a highlight of Dragon Ball Z, and it looks like Dragon Ball FighterZ is going to capitalize on that fact.

After all, the game's first story trailer is out, and it teases one intense Android storyline.

Earlier today, the Tokyo Game Show dropped a story-mode trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball game. The project went so far as to get input from Akira Toriyama on its new story characters, and Dragon Ball diehards are excited to see what the creator has prepared for them.

As you can see above, the Dragon Ball FighterZ teaser begins with an ominous sight. A hoard of Androids appear to have ruined one of Earth's metropolises, but their identities are rather shocking. Androids of Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, and Krillin can be seen walking forward like zombies are they prepare to launch new attacks.

The teaser then changes scene to show one of Toriyama's newest character, Android 21. The heroine is seen holding a controller used by the Red Ribbon Army, the former organization of Dr. Gero who made Cell and Androids 17 & 18. The new character appears to have revived Android 16 and perhaps created the new army to finish what Dr. Gero started, and the Z-Fighters are seen struggling to take down her Android army.

As the clip ends, fans are shown a dark scene as Vegeta, Piccolo, and even Goku are knocked out cold. The storyline of Dragon Ball FighterZ looks like it will put the anime's heroes into a new conflict with the Androids, and longtime fans are understandably hyped.

Android 18 remained a regular part of Dragon Ball Z beyond the show's Android Arc, but the franchise has not done much with the villains. For such beloved characters, there is a lot more the anime could do with the Androids, and Dragon Ball FighterZ will give that content to fans after a long wait. And, with Toriyama having provided work on this game, Dragon Ball fans will be all too eager to give it their seal of approval.
