It looks like the world of Western cartoons and Japanese anime recently met up for one hilarious get-together. Over on Cartoon Network, the station has a slew of critical hits on its hands. Series such as Adventure Time and Steven Universe have kept Cartoon Network afloat with its subversive, whacky humor - and one of the titles just made a hilarious nod to Dragon Ball Z not long ago.

Thanks to Reddit, a screenshot of the subtle easter egg has hit the Internet. During a recent airing of Steven Universe, user @TJax noticed one of the cartoon's leads found herself posed in a familiar stance. After being knocked out, Ruby could be seen lying in a smoking cater in the ground while she laid on her stomach. Looking at the fallen stance, fans of Dragon Ball Z may feel an itch of recollection, and they would be right to feel as such.

After all, who can forget the hilarious yet tragic way Yamcha fell back at the start of Dragon Ball Z?

Yes, that's right! Steven Universe jumped on yet another pop culture meme by recreating Yamcha's death pose through Ruby. After all of these years, it seems like fans still can't get over the way the Z-Fighter lost his life to a petite Saibaman.

For those of you who've forgotten the circumstances of Yamcha's first death, the character passed in a blaze of arguable glory. The human hero attempted to challenge the villain Nappa after Vegeta and he made their way to Earth. However, Nappa refused to fight him and instead used a Saibaman to battle Yamcha. The battle went back-and-forth before Yamcha came close to winning, but the Saibaman elected to sacrifice himself to ensure he won. By using a self-destruction technique, the alien blew himself up along with Yamcha, and the hero was killed. And, when he died, his final pose was quickly turned into a meme.

Dragon Ball Z showed Yamcha lying face down in a dirk crater with his uniform torn to shreds. After the death occurred, fans began using the meme as one to mock failures or point out when people did something way out of their league. For fans, Yamcha was brazen enough to challenge warriors who were much more powerful than he was, and he deserved a hard time for it.

Now, it looks like Ruby got her own reprimand over on Steven Universe. The colorful character will no doubt bounce back from her failure like Yamcha did. However, fans are hoping Ruby's reputation doesn't become quite as tarnished as Yamcha's has become over the years.

Poor guy.
