Funimation Debuts English Subbed Dragon Ball Super 'Universal Survival' Promos

Dragon Ball fans, get ready! In the coming days, Toei Animation will be gearing up for the premiere of a brand-new story arc for Dragon Ball Super. The 'Universal Survival' saga will kick off on February 5th as Goku approaches the fearsome Zen-Oh to instigate the violent martial arts tournament. And, now, Funimation is helping U.S. fans get hyped for the premiere with official English subbed promos.

Over on Youtube, the anime studio released two subbed trailers for the Dragon Ball Super arc. The first PV was released by Toei Animation a while back and goes through the previous Dragon Ball Super arcs. The video then ends with a look at the Dragon Ball Super manga and its take on the impending martial arts affair.

As for the second video, the PV gives fans a look at the actual animation for the 'Universal Survival' arc. Audiences are introduced to a slew of new Gods of Destructions and teased an appearance of a never-before-seen female Super Saiyan who looks suspiciously like Broly.

Funimation's brief synopsis for the new Dragon Ball Super arc can be read up on below:

"According to an invitation that Goku gets, Zen-Oh is starting a martial arts tournament between all the universes called "Chikara no Taikai" (Tournament of Power). But it is the beginning of universal destruction. Something awaits the winners and losers of this tournament. What will become of this fierce team battle between each universe's elite warriors?"

As for the saga's start date, the new arc is slated to premiere on February 5, 2017. The "Universal Survival" saga will be part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
