When it comes to Godzilla, there's no denying that the creature is the King of Monsters. Now known as a worldwide star, the atomic beast has become a staple in pop culture, but no one is more proud of the behemoth than Japan. So, naturally, it's about time that the creature got its own anime standalone. Later this year, Polygon Pictures is set to release the first-ever Godzilla anime feature. And, now, fans have some first-look information at the much-anticipated film.

Over at the film's official website, six main cast members for Gen Urobuchi's Godzilla have been announced along with a newly released concept image. You can check out the list of actors below:

As for the concept artwork, the picture has a distinct sci-fi feel to it that will stun fans of the franchise. The picture is said to take place in Old Tanzawa with a scout team. Fans can see a slew of armed soldiers carrying hi-tech gear while a few animatronic walkers follow them. If anything, the image looks like something born from both Star Wars and Avatar - and fans are interested to see Godzilla move with this aesthetic direction.

Godzilla will be directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita. Gen Urobuchi created the story and penned the screenplay. This new Godzilla film will follow shortly after the monster's live-action comeback in Japan with Shin Godzilla. The kaijuu flick oped last July and was the year's second-highest grossing film in the country.

In Shin Godzilla, it's a peaceful day in Japan when a strange fountain of water erupts in the bay, causing panic to spread among government officials. At first, they suspect only volcanic activity, but one young executive dares to wonder if it may be something different… something alive. His worst nightmare comes to life when a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and begins tearing through the city, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake. As the government scrambles to save the citizens, a rag-tag team of volunteers cuts through a web of red tape to uncover the monster's weakness and its mysterious ties to a foreign superpower. But time is not on their side—the greatest catastrophe to ever befall the world is about to evolve right before their very eyes.

Shin Godzilla, also known as Godzilla Resurgence, stars Hiroki Hasegawa (Attack on Titan the Movies: Part 1 & 2), Satomi Ishihara (Attack on Titan the Movies: Part 1 & 2), and Yutaka Takenouchi (Reisei to jônetsu no aida).
