It's 2017, and Attack on Titan has set itself up to make a rather spectacular comeback. This year, the beloved anime will finally debut its long-awaited second season, and fans cannot wait to see more of the show's Survey Corps. Over in Japan, Universal Studios is celebrating the upcoming release in a big way over at its park. The Japanese theme park already has a heavy Attack on Titan presence, and it's only about to get bigger. Now, the theme park has installed a totally terrifying statue based on the series, and it will have fans desperately reaching for their maneuvering gear.

Thanks to Mantan Web, fans can get their first look at Universal Studio Japan's Armored Titan status. The massive, 49" behemoth is a perfect photo op location - you know, if you can ignore the fact that a Titan is looming over you. The huge landmark looks scarily accurate to its manga counterpart, and fans are left to gawp at the statue from the ground.

The Armored Statue is not the only Attack on Titan attraction coming to Universal Studios Japan this year. A 4D movie known as Attack on Titan The Real will make it debut in Japan and introduce fans to an original story that puts audiences deep into a Titan war.

If you are not familiar with Attack on Titan, then you should know the popular anime is renowned for its intense action and gritty storylines. The anime follows a boy named Eren Yeager in an alternate world overrun by massive creatures known as Titans. These mindless beasts have all but wiped out humanity, and mankind is left to cower in fear behind massive walls. When their sanctum is infiltrated by a slew of Titans, Eren and his friends Armin and Mikasa join the military to help eradicate the blood-thirty monsters. But, as they grow older, they learn that the beasts are not what they appear as long-held government conspiracies make themselves known.

Aside from Attack on Titan, a slew of other famous Japanese anime and live-action franchises are being honored by Universal Studios. A 4D theater experience has been produced for Godzilla, the King of Monsters. The attraction will put moviegoers in the cockpit of a fighter jet that's about to battle Godzilla at Osaka City. The anime series Evangelion is also getting an impressive attraction as Universal Studios Japan thanks to the Evangelion XR Ride. The hi-tech ride will use virtual reality to give fans an immersive trip through Japan as a horde of angels bombard the city.
