Upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! TV Anime Reveals Title, New Story Details

It's time to give it up for TV Tokyo! The Japanese network has been a fond supporter of Yu-Gi-Oh! for years, and the channel is gearing up to bring the franchise back for a brand-new anime series. The show, which was first announced last year, is said to make a premiere later this spring. And, now, a slew of exciting details about the Yu-Gi-Oh! show have been released.

In the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the magazine finally revealed more information about the highly anticipated anime. To start, the publication confirmed the show's name would be Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS and feature an exciting twist on traditional Duel Monsters play.

Yes, that's right! The new Yu-Gi-Oh! series is taking after projects like Pokemon GO and Sword Art Online. The anime will feature new virtual reality duels which bring the Duel Monster game to life. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS will introduce a new technology that allows gamers to enter a virtual space where duels can be held. The show's main character Yūsaku Fujiki will be one of the first fighters to introduce this new gaming component to fans.

As for the show's star Duel Monster, a new beast is making its way to the forefront. The monster "Decode Talker" will be the ace card for players, and the creature's massive sword will no doubt slice off plenty of life points from a player's counter. In the anime, duelists will experience a change of outfit whenever they enter these VR spaces, And, to top things off, the show's lead will also get new hair colors when he goes to duel.

Oh, and the players also ride a hi-tech surf board while battling. That is also a new thing for fans to look forward to!

Mirroring previous heroes like Yugi Muto, Fujiki has previously been said to hate standing out amongst his peers. Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS is said to be aimed for young viewers and will teach them how to pursue their dreams without facing eventual burn-out. The lead will reportedly embody the show's viewers with his awkward, but the show will follow the hero as he makes friends and opens himself up to the world.
