Even the larger-than-life cast of Robotech can't escape the possibility of death, and Titan Comics has revealed a member of the team will fall.

In Robotech #5, a beloved cast member will meet their end, something Titan Comics unveiled in their latest covers for the new issue. One cover features the tagline "Funeral for a Friend", and includes three silhouetted figures that are all in the crosshairs. Those would seem to be Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, and Lynn Minmei, but it could also be Roy, Claudia, Henry, or someone else entirely. The "Funeral for a Friend" tag though seems to indicate it will be an important part of the group.

Prepare to say goodbye to one of your favorites, and get the tissues ready. You can view the cover and several others for the issue in the gallery.

Titan's new series is inspired by the 1985 original series, which features a team trying to defend the Earth against alien invaders. They do so by using the alien's own tech against them, adapting alien technology to form advanced battle suits that gives the series its name. For the newest spin on Robotech, the series gives modern interpretations of Hunter, Hayes, Minmei, and more while still implementing the original series in new and exciting ways.

Whether you're a longtime fan or someone new to the franchise, Robotech offers a fresh take on a classic and you can catch up now in Robotech Vol. 1, which is written by Brian Wood with art by Marco Turini. Robotech Vol. 1 collects issues #1 through #4, and you can grab the first volume in January 2018. The description is included below:

"Not just another retelling of the Macross saga ... The story continues as we bring Carl Macek's original vision full circle. Taking into account every iteration of the series, this new Robotech #1 casts a fresh eye over classic characters like Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lynn Minmei, Roy Fokker, Claudia Grant, and Henry Gloval. Brian Wood and Marco Turini take us back to a Macross Island where *nothing* can be taken for granted."
