Aquaman Screenwriter Teases Much More Fun DCEU Movies Ahead

Many critics - and some fans - have complained that the tone of the DC Extended Universe is a bit too dark. Once again, one of the creative minds at DC has promised that the future is looking bright.

Will Beall, screenwriter of the upcoming Aquaman movie, said that his film is much more fun than the ones that have come before. According to the writer, he and James Wan have taken extra time and made sure their movie is set apart.

In an interview with Collider, Beall talked about the tone of Aquaman.

"It's going to be fun, it's going to be really fun. What we've come up with and James [Wan] especially — he has a really clear idea of the tone he's going to have, and I think Aquaman is one that's going to blow people's minds, not just visually, but I think the story and the scope of it is really great."

Beall also hinted that the other films that DC releases in the future will have a lighter tone as well. While Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice was a bit somber, he says the new films will be a breathe of fresh air for fans.

"I think Justice League again is, what you're going to see — I hope I'm not going to get in trouble for saying this — but it's much more fun, much poppier, than … I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet, but Batman vs Superman was a little more somber. But Justice League is a lot more fun. And I think that feels to me like the direction those movies are heading now."

Get excited DC fans, it looks like the powers-that-be are hearing your cries!

Aquaman is directed by James Wan with Will Beall, Geoff Johns, Paul Norris, and Mort Weisinger on writing duties. Rob Cowan is serving as executive producer and Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder serving as producers. The film stars Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Amber Heard (Mera), Patrick Wilson (Orm) and Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko).
