For comic collectors, it's not uncommon to have a litany of long boxes occupying space in the garage, in the closet, or in your ultra secret hiding spot under the bed (yeah, not so secret). If you happen to have some comics you can part with, the JAWIN Comic Drive for Soldiers could sure put them to good use.

The JAWIN Comic Drive for Soldiers has partnered up again this year with Operation Gratitude to send comics to troops overseas. DC All Access host Jason Inman has been spearheading the effort and last year set a goal of 10,000 comics, which was surpassed in less than two weeks. This year Inman has raised the goal to 20,000 comics, which will be put in Operation Gratitude care packages and sent to troops all around the world.

The packages are sent to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who have been deployed, but they're also sent to Children left behind, New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Heroes, and Caregivers. Aside from comics, each package will contain food, hygiene products, handmade items, and letters of support. The cause holds a special place for Inman, who is an Army Veteran and served overseas in Iraq.

DC Comics is helping to get things started in a big way with a sizable donation of 5,000 comics, and Inman had a chance to speak to DC Comics publisher Dan Didio about the donation and te project in general in the video above

The process to donate is pretty simple. First, you'll need to fill out the donation form here and make sure to put Jawiin Comic Drive for Soldiers in Group Title and the comic drive email on the form. You'll then need to box up your comics with the donation form and send it to the following address.

Operation Gratitude
21100 Lassen St.
Chatsworth, CA 91311
(Please include a donation form in EVERY box even if they're part of the same donation. Sometimes cartons don't all arrive at the same time.)

Last but not least you'll take a picture of the comics you are sending along with the exact number and email it to jawiincomicdrive@gmail.com. This will help keep the count accurate.

The books don't have to be new of course, but you are gifting it to someone, so make sure it is in decent shape. No one wants to read a book that is falling apart at the seams. If you're interested in giving, you've got until November 30th to get your packages in, so start combing through those comic collections for a great cause.
