Exclusive DC Preview: Harley Quinn #29

DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of Harley Quinn #29 from writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti with artist Chad Hardin.

What's that you said? We couldn't quite hear you. Did you say "Boy, I sure would love to see Harley fight giant transforming robots"? Well, that's definitely what we heard! So we're delivering!

Harley Quinn has consistently been one of DC's top performers since it was launched with Conner and Palmiotti. The popularity of the character has led to variant cover months, a line of Hot Topic fashions, and of course a focus on her as the primary draw of the forthcoming Suicide Squad movie.

This creative team will carry on through DC's Rebirth initiative, where Palmiotti, Conner, and Hardin will have a new #1 coming in August. Given the scope and scale of DC's Rebirth changes, it's not unheard-of for a creative team to remain in place on a given property, but it's certainly the exception rather than the rule and in many cases (like Titans and Action Comics) those teams were brought in via a kind of "backdoor pilot" that set up Rebirth, as opposed to running the series for two and a half years before it's relaunched.

The comedic, fourth-wall-brekaing elements of Harley Quinn have been ramped up to eleven in these last few issues. Before this issue's take on the Transformers, she battled Red Tool, a hilariously-obvious Deadpool pastiche with a hardware fetish.

Harley Quinn #29 will be available at your local comic shop and on digital services like ComiXology on Wednesday, June 22.
