Supergirl Might Reunite Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain

The CW's DC Superhero Universe—or simply the Arrowverse—has a lot of good things going for it. With four shows going strong and a fifth on the way in the form of Black Lightning, DC's television offerings under Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg have been well received since Arrow first premiered.

A part of the shows' strengths come from their reverence for the source material. While they may not be direct translations of the comic books, they tend to respect the stories on which their based.

But another fan-favorite aspect is how they recognize their own vast history, such as when it comes to the television shows that came before.

The Flash has honored those legacies by casting John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen and Jay Garrick, or Mark Hamill reprising his role as the character the Trickster—both actors were in the original television adaptation of the Scarlet Speedster.

Supergirl also pays homage to those legacies, adding the '70s Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as President Olivia Marsdin, and, most notably, former Superman Dean Cain as Supergirl's adoptive father Jeremiah Danvers.

With the casting of Cain's former Lois & Clark co-star Teri Hatcher, fans have wondered whether producers would write an on-screen reunion between the two on Supergirl.

"We'd love to," Kreisberg said during a press event.

"There's a plan — if we can execute the plan," he added.

Kreisberg hinted that Hatcher's new villainous role is not like "any character I've ever seen her play before."

Hatcher's character will debut one week from tonight on Supergirl on an episode called "Exodus." Before that, Kara will have to deal with her father's return in tonight's episode "Homecoming."
