The Flash: Billy Crudup Gives Update On Film's Status

The curse surrounding The Flash and its directorial woes will hopefully be broken soon. Since Warner Bros. confirmed it was developing a standalone movie for The Flash, fans have witnessed one crew shake-up after another. Seth Grahame-Smith was the first director to exit the project, and Rick Famuyiwa of Dope fame was the next to go. Since then, any word about The Flash has been kept hush, but one of the film's stars just gave an update on the project. And, as expected, The Flash has made little progress overall.

In an interview for Alien: Covenant, Billy Crudup was asked by a foreign site whether he knew when filming for The Flash would being. However, the star said he wasn't sure when he would get the chance to play Barry Allen's father thanks to one actor's busy schedule.

"Oh, no, I don't. It's unclear at the moment. Ezra's schedule - Ezra's a busy man. He's very popular and excellent," Crudup told Bad Taste Italy.

Of course, the update isn't surprising to fans who have kept up with The Flash. Since losing Famuyiwa, the film has gone underground as it regroups its executive crew. Earlier this year, Variety insider Justin Kroll said his sources have led him to believe Warner Bros. is taking time to pick out The Flash's next director. After all, Ezra Miller is slated to being work on the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them this summer; The studio will be able to use that film's production time to help them pick the best director for The Flash.

Still, fans are still eager to fan-cast their own director for the film. Reports continue to crop up that names like Robert Zemeckis of Back to the Future will helm the DC Entertainment blockbuster. But, for right nnow, all fans can do is wait and give Warner Bros. the breathing room it needs to get its next director right.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, based on a story by Snyder and Terrio, and stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League opens in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
