Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age Trailer Explains Gambit System, Combat Tactics

Square Enix has released a brand new video detailing the "gambit" system in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Check it out above to see how to get the most out of your party when going up against tougher foes in this beautiful remaster of a Final Fantasy classic.

Basically the gambit system is your key to customizing your AI companions in such a way as to be prepared for any situation you might find yourself in. Whether you're burning through waves of enemies in the open field to grind to the next level or facing a surprise boss that you didn't see coming, the gambit system assures that you have some procedures in place to prevent a total wipe (or to just speed things along).

Every character in your party will have certain attack, assist, and heal conditions that can be set and tweaked to your liking. You may want to program your mates to go into an all-out attack frenzy at the beginning of every battle while you're grinding and getting through the mobs, but when it comes time for a boss battle, that's when you'll need to pay special attention to who's on healing duty (and when).

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will finally drop on July 11. For the first time since this game was released on PS2, Western fans will get the chance to return to the world of Ivalice and play through one of the most mature and political stories the Final Fantasy world has ever seen.

"Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age improves upon the 2006 classic Final Fantasy XII, now more beautiful and easier to play than ever. The high-definition remaster introduces several modern advancements, including reconstructed battle design and a revamped job system. With newly implemented trophies and share functions, as well as stark visual and sound improvements in true HD for the first time, players both returning and new to the game will experience a grand adventure that spans the world of Ivalice in an entirely fresh and improved way. "
