Mojang and Telltale Games annoucned this morning that Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two is in development and will be premiering this July. The first episode, Hero in Residence, will be available to download on July 11 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices. We've got your very first screenshots in the gallery below.

There's no mention of a Nintendo Switch version just yet, which is a bit odd considering the massive success of Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition. It could be that this second season of Minecraft: Story Mode is being delayed slightly until the first season, which is planned to release on the Switch at some point, is out in the wild. Season one of Minecraft: Story Mode still doesn't have an official release date on the Switch, but we'd bet that after it launches we'll hear about Season Two making its way to Nintendo's portable console as well.

"Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2 continues Jesse's saga in a five-part, narrative-driven, episodic game series developed by Telltale in collaboration with Mojang and members of the Minecraft community. Though players' choices from the first season will carry over into season two, this new season will be accessible to both returning fans and newcomers alike.

"This second season will also include Telltale's unique multiplayer 'Crowd Play' feature, which allows friends and family to engage with the adventure together by helping to decide the direction of the story from any mobile device with an online connection."

"Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more...complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade -- at least until Jesse's hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama."

Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two will launch as a standalone release, separate from the original Minecraft and the first season of Story Mode. As usual, expect options to purchase the episodes a la carte as they release one by one, or else opt for a season pass ranging from $20-25 that will entitle you to every episode as soon as it launches. A physical version containing every episode is due to launch this fall.
