So, in case you might have missed it last night, Insomniac Games' Spider-Man stole the show during Sony's pre-E3 press conference, with a huge presentation featuring the web-slinger in action.

We talked about the trailer at great length, even discussing items you may have missed with the first time around. But today, Insomniac Games revealed even more details about the game, as well as some confirmation that it won't be nearly as limited as some fans may be thinking. For good measure, some new screenshots have come out as well (straight from Marvel!), featuring the 4K beauty of the PlayStation 4 Pro in action.

The game's creative director, Bryan Intihar, talked about what to expect when he stopped by YouTube Live earlier on. First off, it will be an "open world," similar to prior Spider-Man game releases, with a "sprawling Manhattan" just waiting to be explored. You can swing and run around however you please, even if you aren't always on missions. The design of the game, he explained, was so that "no obstacle should be in your way."

In addition, the combat has been enhanced with the help of an "acrobatic improviser," which enables both ground and aerial moves to feel more free-flowing than most other action games. As you can see, you can do quite a bit in battle, even calling upon items in the environment to take down opponents, if you prefer.

As noted before, Peter Parker is playable in the game (NOT Miles Morales – although he does pop up at some point, based on "Easter eggs" that the developer suggested), and he's pretty young at the age of 23. He's struggling quite a bit with other stuff, on top of dealing with gang wars, criminals and, of course, Mister Negative, one of the villains to first appear within the game.

According to Intihar, Parker's story is represented "really well" in the game. "It's a story of the man behind the mask as much as the man in it, and Peter is very integral to the experience, whether it's in the story or even in gameplay."

Even with a young Peter, the game will not have ties to the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. That said, it'll act as its own story.

The game also won't have an over-reliance on quick-time events, despite what the trailer depicted. It'll be far more free-flowing, so you really feel like you're in control of Spider-Man's actions. So rest easy there, true believers.

Finally, it was revealed that the game was running on a PlayStation 4 Pro last night – and looks very pretty as a result. You can watch the trailer again above if you missed it. (It'll run just fine on PS4 as well, so don't worry about that.)

Spider-Man will arrive on PlayStation 4 in 2018. Check out the screenshots in the attached gallery!
