While Square Enix is certainly keeping busy with its higher-end role-playing games, like Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III and Dragon Quest XI, it certainly isn't forgetting about smaller developments, like the indie favorite I Am Setsuna.

In fact, the team behind that particular adventure is already hard at work on its next one, which we reported on earlier today. Lost Sphear, which does have a slight resemblance to that previous game, has a bold new tale to tell in its own right. And now we've got a fresh set of images that show you what it's all about!

The game resembles a classic isometric viewpoint, not unlike the Square Enix classic Super Mario RPG from the SNES days, as well as a "reveamped" active-time battle system, as well as a story revolving around a young boy named Katana, who sets out to stop the world from disappearing thanks to a strange new evil.

Lost Sphear definitely has some influences that are similar to another Square Enix classic, the SNES favorite Chrono Trigger, but, as you can see from the trailer above, it sets out on its own bold little path, and should be quite the compelling experience for those that enjoyed I Am Setsuna beforehand.

The publisher has noted that Lost Sphear will be available in "early 2018" for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Though a specific release date wasn't given, we should be getting it within the next few months.

In addition, along with a digital release for the game, a physical version will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. In fact, it can be pre-ordered here, for those that are interested in jumping on it early. It's currently priced at $50, and comes with two additional music tracks as a bonus gift.

We've included a gallery of what the game looks like thus far, which you can see over the next few pages. It definitely looks like a fun little throwback to the classic Square Enix tales of old, and if it's as good as I Am Setsuna, players are definitely in for a fun time. Be sure to check back for more information soon!
