Star Wars Battlefront II’s Leaked Space Combat Trailer Puts Yoda In The Pilot Seat

Update: Following the leak, EA has gone ahead and officially released the Star Wars Battlefront II space combat trailer in HD!
EA has promised to unveil Star Wars Battlefront II's revamped space combat at this year's Gamescom event, but you can catch an early glimpse now, as the Gamescom trailer has leaked early. This isn't the first time something like this has happened – the Battlefront II debut trailer, and snippets of a behind-the-scenes featurette previously leaked. Apparently, there's a Rebel spy in EA's ranks!
You can check out the latest trailer, courtesy of Eurogamer, above. It's a rather brief teaser, and the footage isn't the highest quality, but it still paints a promising picture. We get all our favorite Star Wars fighters (X-Wings, TIE fighters, the Millennium Falcon, Boba Fett's Slave I, and more) and hints at some interesting pilots, including Yoda! The little green guy never seemed like the ace pilot type to me, but sure enough, there he is in the cockpit of a Rebel ship of some kind.
The new Star Wars Battlefront II starfighter segments are being developed by Criterion, the folks behind Burnout and Need for Speed, so expect a fast, finely-tuned experience. Here's what EA's promising for the big space combat reveal at Gamescom:
Get ready for your first look at the Starfighter Assault mode! Teams will face off in a swirling dogfight in the Fondor: Imperial Shipyard map, weaving around an Imperial Star Destroyer complete with speedy fighters, thundering bombers, distinct hero ships, and more. Will the brave pilots of the Rebel Alliance triumph against the Imperial Navy, or will the intrepid aces of the Galactic Empire foil the insurgents' plans?
The livestream will be your first glimpse at the vastly improved starfighter combat, with superior controls, deeper customization, and role-based team play featuring an all new class-based system. See it in action, and then try it yourself. Fondor: Imperial Shipyard will join the Theed Galactic Assault map in the beta starting October 6.
The Gamescom livestream kicks off on August 21 at 9:30am PT. Star Wars Battlefront II soars onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on November 17.
