Stranger Things: The Game Is Now Available for Free, and It's Perfectly Retro

Much like the original show, Stranger Things: The Game has appeared out of nowhere, and damn if it doesn't actually look like a lot of fun! Check out the trailer above.

Mobile developer BonusXP published the game for iOS and Android last night, and you can cop the entire adventure without paying a dime. There are in-game purchases (of course), but from what we can tell there's nothing stopping you from enjoying the entire adventure from beginning to end without buying anything.

From the opening moments of the trailer you can tell that BonusXP and Netflix went in to do this thing right. The chip-tune recreation of the opening theme song is deliciously retro. We think the characters would love it, and this game seems like something that they would have enjoyed playing on their Atari or NES. The game is live right now, so go check it out! From the official listing:

With season 2 of Stranger Things right around the corner, we can think of no better way to get into the spirit than by exploring the pixelated upside down. We're hearing reports that this game is several hours long, and the world map is huge. If played in small chunks, this will definitely carry you over until the start of the new season. Enjoy!
