The Overwatch Summer Games Are Making A Return

Overwatch has been making some big waves as of late with new content for its fans, namely with Doomfist, who will finally be arriving in the game this week after what seems like an eternity waiting for him. But that's not the only fan favorite content that'll keep them happy this summer.

The company has confirmed that the Summer Games will be making a return. First debuting last year, the Games were an ideal opportunity to earn new skins, taunts, voice lines, sprays and emotes for your character, while at the same time enjoying a "sporty" new game mode to partake in.

While this year's event won't be able to coincide with an Olympic event (like last year's did), players will be more than pleased to see it return, along with the possibility of Lucio Ball being back in action, adding a bit of sport to the otherwise frantic first-person shooting/fighting tactics we've gotten used to.

Blizzard hasn't broken down whether the Games will include new skins that are different from last years, but a few data miners indicate that some new items could be introduced, like a pair of new items for Reaper. That said, we should know more over the next few weeks, as the event will reportedly kick off on August 2nd – just in time to see off summer to a close. The duration of the event hasn't been revealed either, but it's likely to last at least a couple of weeks, like most Overwatch events last.

The update will reportedly include eight new Achievement items to earn, along with one new Summer games player icon and the following bonus items for characters:

Again, we'll let you know once Blizzard confirms all the details – but, fans, get ready, your summer party is about to kick off!

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
