Sony Developing Black Cat, Silver Sable Film With Thor Screenwriter

It looks like Sony has absolutely no plans to slow down the growth of its Spider-Verse. The studio will release a solo Spider-Man flick this year with the help of Marvel Studios, but Peter Parker won't be their only comic book friend. News broke not long ago that Sony was moving forward with a Venom spin-off. And, now, reports are now coming in that the studio is also developing a film featuring vixens like Black Cat and Silver Sable.

Chris Yost has been tapped for its script. The writer most recently worked with Marvel Studios on Thor: Ragnarok. The writer will be building upon a previous version penned by Lisa Joy, the co-creator of HBO's Westworld. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is already looking into potential directors as they want to being production by the fall. Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are attached to produce the project. Fans knew the studio was looking to produce a female-led project, but now it looks like Sony knows which femme fatales they want to pursue.

For now, there is no word on who may play the characters. In the past, Felicity Jones has made it clear that she would be interested in playing Black Cat. "Being vacuum-packed into a leather suit, doing backflips?! I'd love that," Jones told GQ. "Can you start a petition for me?"

Alright then! Fans, get your online petitions going!

The official Spider-Man: Homecoming synopsis is listed below.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
