Vin Diesel Says Fate of the Furious Starts a New Trilogy

CinemaCon is going on right now - and Comicbook.com's own Brandon Davis is out there in the trenches bringing us all the latest and greatest announcements about some of the biggest film franchises out right now.
...And few are bigger than the Fast and the Furious franchise. After hitting a new billion-and-a-half milestone at the box office with Furious 7, Fate of the Furious is poised to do huge things for the franchise, as well. And when that happens, the engine is going to keep running - for two more films, at least.
Speaking to the crowd at CinemaCon during the Fate of the Furious panel, Diesel revealed some big info to the crowd, about the franchise's future. As reported by our own Brandon Davis:
"Somehow you manage to increase our audience," Diesel said. "That makes us want to go to work. That gives us a certain pride in our work. I remember being here two years ago and talking about Furious 7 and for the first time telling you that there was going to be an F8: The Fate of the Furious."
He recalls claiming 8 will be the best and stands by it. "As the world sees this movie, they'll see how this is the beginning of the next trilogy."
"There are characters who were brought in in Furious 7, like Kurt Russell, who were brought in specifically for this new trilogy."
Kurt Russell's character is "Mr. Nobody," a CIA spook who recruited Dom's team to help bring down Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw in Furious 7, and will help them battle evil hacker Cipher (Charlize Theron) in FotF. It's been clear that Dom's team's work with Mr. Nobody is going to get... messy - but hey, that's the progression of the Fast and the Furious franchise: gear-heads to super thieves to superheroes and now super spies! Obviously!
Jokes aside, the franchise is what it is at this point, and people are still having big fun with it. So here's to the increasingly ridiculous title options for Fast & Furious 9 and 10!
